Our Services
Alma Safe Care not only caters for individuals wishing to maintain their dignity and independence at home in later life, but also for those requiring care after a stay in hospital, or individuals with a disability.
Alma Safe Care can provide live-in nursing care services for individuals in a wide range of circumstances. We provide live-in nursing care to a range of people including:
- Older people
- People living with dementia
- People living with physical disabilities
- People with sensory impairment
- Adults and children with specialist needs including learning difficulties
- People living with a mental illness
- People living with an acquired brain injury (ABI)

Permanent Live-in Nursing Care
Alma Safe Care can provide a small team of live-in qualified and registered nurses to work on a rotational basis to provide care, companionship and nursing care in the individual’s home. We try to ensure continuity and familiarity of nurses, providing a familiar relief Home Care Nurse when the primary Home Care Nurse is on leave. The Home Care Nurses work on a rotation basis so that cover is always provided by an individual known to the Service User. Permanent nursing care can be an ideal option for somebody who can no longer cope alone but wishes to remain in the familiarity of their own home. It can also be an alternative to a nursing home for individuals or couples who wish to remain living together.
Home from Hospital
After discharge from hospital, an individual’s period of recovery may be significantly reduced if they receive live-in nursing care on their return home to help them re-adjust to normal life more easily. It can be incredibly difficult to manage alone at home after an operation or hospital stay. We can provide a qualified nurse to live in the home and provide care and help around the home until the individual has recovered sufficiently.
In such circumstances, our registered nurse assessor will be happy to visit the patient in hospital in order to assess and arrange appropriate care in advance. We can provide care for however long it is required – from a few weeks to months at a time.
Palliative Care
The goal of palliative care is achievement of the best quality of life for patients and their families who are faced with serious illness. It focuses on increasing comfort through prevention and treatment of distressing symptoms. In addition to expert symptom management, palliative care focuses on clear communication, advance planning, and coordination of care. Our qualified nurses can work effectively with other health professionals to provide supportive care in the individual’s home, providing quality end of life care.
Respite Care
We are happy to provide Home Care Nurses for short-term respite care to replace the care normally provided by a relative, for example in times of emergency or illness, or to provide relief for a carer who simply needs a break from the responsibility of providing constant care.
Our Nurses

Our nurses expect to be on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week during their periods of engagement, except for their agreed break time.
The relationship between a Service User and their Home Care Nurse is core to the success of live-in care and is of vital importance. We endeavour to introduce individuals who fit in with a Service User’s personality, habits and requirements, and are competent to carry out the specific daily tasks required by each Service User.
Our nurses are employed directly by us, allowing full control over their recruitment, training and supervision. Their wage is included in the agency fee, therefore no other payments out with this are needed.
The Process
In obtaining live-in services from Alma Safe Care, there are several stages to go through before a Home Care Nurse arrives in the home to work.
In order for services to be provided, you should have carried out an assessment process to determine what care you need and what service we can provide for you. These assessments are usually completed in your home or, for example, perhaps in hospital before discharge.
The stages of the set-up process are as follows:
- Initial enquiry/referral
- No-obligation home visit by Operations Manager
- Risk Assessment and needs assessments carried out (by social services or an Alma Safe Care registered nurse assessor)
- Personal Care Plan developed together with Service User
- Contract of care and payment terms agreed
- Home Care Nurse selected and approved
- Date of commencement for the service agreed
- Home Care Nurse arrives at the home to begin on the specified date
- Service User’s needs are reassessed regularly or at any time at the request of the Service User or their representative
Personal Care Plan
We listen carefully to our Service Users. This enables us to find out what is required and to help agree on the responsibilities of your Home Care Nurse in order to make the introduction a success. We aim to visit every Service User at least once before we introduce your Home Care Nurse. Service Users and/or their representatives will be involved in all stages of the development and reviewing of assessments and care plans.
Before we introduce a Home Care Nurse to you, it’s important that you think carefully about the tasks you need carrying out. The required tasks, and your specific wishes and requirements, will form the basis of the agreement between yourself and the Home Care Nurses we introduce to you,.
These are taken into account to produce a tailored personal Care Plan.
The personal plan includes information and decisions about:
• What you prefer to be called
• Personal preferences as to food and drink, and any special dietary needs
• Social, cultural and spiritual preferences
• Leisure interests and hobbies
• Who should be involved in reviewing the personal plan
• Any communication needs you may have
• What communication arrangements need to be put in place if your first language is not English
• When and in what circumstances friends, relatives and Home Care Nurses will be contacted
• An independent person to contact if you want to make a complaint or raise a concern
• The name or names of any home Home Care Nurses who will work with you
